This flat movement for a watch with a stepping motor comprises a single bottom plate 2 comprising a peripheral front part 2a connected to a rear part 2b which it partially surrounds and a stator 10 of a stepping motor which is fastened to the bottom plate. Spindles 20, 21 and 10a fastened to the part 2b and to the stator 10 carry the rotor 9 and gears 17, 18. The dial 4 bears on the ends of the spindles 20, 21 in order to limit the axial clearance of the gears 17, 18 and of the rotor 9. The hour wheel 13 carries a rib 13a which also bears against the dial in order to limit axial clearance. The movement comprises only two layers of gears between the rear part 2b of the bottom plate and the dial. <IMAGE>
