The subject-matter of the application is a DC motor without a commutator and having three windings (1-3). In each case two windings are connected successively and with inherently changing polarity to a DC voltage source via switches (S1-S6). The switches (S1-S6) are bridged by freewheeling diodes (D1-D6). The individual winding pairs are driven such that, during the drive signal of the commutating electronics (6) for one switch pair (for example S5 and S6 for which the connections are shown in the drawing), the AND gate (12) is on for a pulse sequence from the regulator (10) so that the motor current is pulsed by means of the switch. The regulator (10) varies the duty cycle of the pulse sequence as a function of the difference between the desired value and the actual value of the current. Winding pairs are also connected to the DC voltage source during braking. The construction according to the invention means that the braking current is supplied back into the DC voltage source (5). <IMAGE>
