PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of basic lead carbonate by naturally drying a number of aged unformed plates without forcibly drying them while they are made to closely adhere to one another. CONSTITUTION:As shown in the figure, a lattice is filled with active material, 50 or more aged unformed plates 1 are made to adhere to one after and are bundled and then are naturally left as they are at a room temperature of 25 deg.C. The reduction of moisture content in the active material results in an increase of the strength of the active material. As a result, since there is no CO2 effect, the carbonization (3PbO+2CO2+H2O 2PbCO3.Pb(OH)2) of the active material of the unformed plate hardly occurs and the content of basic lead carbonate of the active material is low as compared with a plate dried by the conventional combustion gas. |
