Substd sulphonamide dyes - for polyesters giving deep shades with resistance to sublimation and light

Dyes of formula: (where X is H, halogen, 1-6C alkyl or 1-6C alkoxy) are useful for dyeing polyesters. They are prepd. by e.g. treating a 4-halo-3-nitrobenzene-N-(3-acetylphenyl)-sulphonamide in an aq. slurry with a slight excess of the appropriate primary arylamine at 125 degrees C for several hrs.
