Activated charcoals and similar support materials used as air purification agents obtain, by means of an impregnation, a good separation efficiency for different hazardous gases. In this context, protection against as broad a spectrum as possible of hazardous gases is desired. Air purification agents are known for acidic gases (B according to DIN 3181) and for alkaline gases (K according to DIN 3181). As a result of the impregnation with the iodide of an amine-forming metal, in particular zinc iodide, the air purification agent according to the invention, has a high separation efficiency both for strongly acidic gases and also for alkaline gases. It thus gives equal protection against acidic gases (B) and against ammonia (K). A preferred application is the construction of small, efficient single-layer filters as respiratory protection filters having (B/K) protection and also the production of filters for ventilation plants. |
