Machine, in particular internal combustion engine, which operates with a rotating piston accommodated in a housing, the rotating piston with its cylindrical basic shape being assigned a second, similar rotating piston, each of the pistons, which rotate in opposite directions, having a reduced diameter relative to the diameter of the basic shape over 180 DEG and the pistons being mounted in such a way that they interengage in the manner of the gears of a gear pump. In order to achieve satisfactory functioning of the machine without jamming the pistons, each front face of one piston (5) has a curved design such that each step (2') of the other piston (5') can execute a re-entrant movement on the corresponding front face (1) of the first piston (5). <IMAGE>
