PURPOSE:To obtain recording imparting good image quality wherein density is high and the edge of an image is sharp even with respect to a recording medium inferior in surface smoothness, by applying heat to a thermal transfer material containing a heat-meltable binder forming two or more kinds of domains and subsequently releasing the thermal transfer material from a recording medium within a predetermined release time. CONSTITUTION:Ink 3 forms two or more kinds of domains and at least one domain thereof is constituted by mixing a colorant in a heat-meltable binder based on polyethylene oxide with a number average MW of 1,300 or more. The ink 3 of a thermal transfer material 1 is closely contacted with a recording medium 5 of which the back surface is supported by a platen roller 4 under pressure from the side of a support 2 by a recording head 6 having a heat generating part 6a generating heat correspondingly to image information and pulse-like heat is applied to the thermal transfer material 1. When heat is applied, the thermally transferable ink 3 comes to a semi-molten state and increases flocculation force to be adhered to the recording medium 5. Thereafter, the thermal transfer material 1 is released from the recording medium 5 at the end part of the recording head 6. At this time, the time from the finish of heat application to release is set to 50msec or less. |
