In a shield-type support assembly with two floor bars arranged next to one another at a distance apart, it is known to connect these floor bars to one another by a bridge in the goaf-side area in such a way that they are articulated to a limited extent. Furthermore, the bridge serves to attach a pushing ram which is connected at its other end to an advancing mechanism which is provided between the floor bars and serves to shift the shield-type support assembly and an abutment alternately. Furthermore, the advancing mechanism contains guide bars to positively guide the advancing mechanism in a limited spatially articulated manner between the floor bars. In order to reduce the cost associated with the articulated bridge and to increase the elasticity of the advancing mechanism (4), provision is now made for the pushing ram (11) to be directly attached to the link (2) which connects the floor bars (1) on the goaf side and forms a component of a four-bar mechanism. Consequently, not only is the articulated bridge omitted, but the guide bars (16) can also be of longer design and thus the elasticity of the advancing mechanism (4) can be increased. The same advantages are also obtained in a one-piece floor bar and two links connected in a relatively movable manner to one another. <IMAGE>
