PURPOSE:To simplify the manufacturing process of pipe cover by a method in which a plastic protective film and a plastic fastener are continuously extruded onto the periphery of a cylindrical plastic foam, and a notch reaching the inner surface of the foam is provided between the fastener coupling portions in such a way as to enhance the weather proofness of the molding and to permit reuse. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical plastic foam 1 sent continuously to an extruding head 4 is directed to the extruding head 4, where a protective film 9 of plastic material extruded from the resin outlet of the extruder 2 is formed on the periphery of the foam 1 and also a fastener 10 of plastic material extruded from the outlet of the extruder 3 is continuously former and bonded on the outer surface of the film 9 by extrusion. The cylindrical covering 8' is cooled by a cooler 5 and taken out by a withdrawer 7, and a notch 12 reaching the inner surface of the cylindrical plastic foam 1 is formed between the coupling portions 10a and 10b of the fastener 10 by a knife to obtain a heat-retaining pipe cover 8. The pipe covers which are excellent in weather proofness and can be easily detached and reused can be manufactured by one process. |
