Inlet chute of a drying oven for fine-grained wet material to be dried

The inlet chute is to be constructed so as to eliminate the causes of lump formation in the material to be dried on the chute as well as the heavy wear. This aim is achieved by an auxiliary device for heating and maintaining a constant temperature at an elevated temperature level which lies in the steam temperature range and which is expediently situated at 350-390 DEG C. When such an inlet chute is kept at this elevated operating temperature, it is ensured that the surface water on the coal sludge particles evaporates suddenly when the stream of coal sludge reaches the inlet chute. The steam which thus constantly arises leads to a spatial separation between the arriving sludge granules and the inlet chute, so that wear is greatly reduced as a result. The steam layer which is constantly renewed between the coal sludge and the inlet chute thus acts like a lubricant for the material to be dried which is introduced.
