The thread-cutting tool has an electric motor with which a holder ring for accommodating cutting heads is driven in a rotatable manner. The speed of the electric motor is greater than about 25,000 rev/min. The holder ring is provided with a worm-gear tooth system which has a module of less than about 1.6 mm. The thread-cutting tool can thereby be of very small and light construction and can also have a high capacity. Consequently, the thread-cutting tool can also be easily handled for a prolonged period.
