The invention relates to a method and device for generating an image for reproduction, there being provided a photosensitive part which has an electrically conductive base layer and a photoconductive layer thereon. The conductive layer is imparted an item of optical information, while at the same time a developer is applied to the photoconductive layer, so that a visible image corresponding to the item of optical information is formed by means of toner particles on the photosensitive part. The conductive layer is transparent with regard to the item of optical information. The photosensitive part comprises, furthermore, a high-resistance material layer of a bright colour on the photoconductive layer. The toner particles are electrically conductive. A bias is applied between the conductive base layer and the toner particles. An image with high contrast can be generated on a brightly coloured, photosensitive part.
