In the compressor, the compressor cylinder is surrounded by an annular space into which a duct opens which originates from the vaporiser which is connected to the suction chamber and has an oil-backflow bore leading to the crankshaft space. To be able easily to machine and change the compressor cylinder, the invention provides that the compressor cylinder is constructed as a sleeve, separate from the compressor housing and with an upper, outward-extending fastening flange, that the sleeve is connected by the fastening flange, together with the valve plate and the cover, to a sleeve-shaped attachment, projecting from the crankshaft space, of the compressor housing, and that the sleeve has an external joint with the oil-backflow bore, which joint, passed into the sleeve-shaped attachment of the compressor housing, completes with the former the annular space.
