The invention relates to a device for connecting a tube with a tube part which can be slid over the tube end, said tube and tube part consisting of thermoplastic, weldable materials, especially polyethylene, and furthermore the abovementioned tube preferably forming the protective tube for a thermal insulation layer surrounding a pipe. The tubes and tube parts can in principle be connected in a known manner by heated coil welding. In practice, however, there are considerable difficulties if tubes which are to be connected together have a cross-section that is by no means circular or alignment errors or axis angle errors or the like are present. So that a tight connection absorbing high longitudinal forces can be created with a small effort, even with large tolerances, it is proposed to provide a welding ring (14) made of a thermoplastic weldable material, that at least one heated coil (34, 38) be disposed on the inner surface (32) and on the outer surface (36) respectively of the welding ring (14) disposed between tube (10) and tube part (18), so that two welded zones are present after welding.
