PURPOSE:To eliminate an origin detection means on a scan means and to efficiently use a small space by installing an origin detection means detecting the origin of an irradiating means irradiating spot light on an original on a main body side. CONSTITUTION:The detector 138 which detects the origin (initial position) of a spot light source 131 and is composed of a microswitch is installed on the side of the main body. When a power source switch is turned on, a main processor group stops an optical system, that is, a carriage 411 at its initial position (origin), and rotates a motor 135 to shift a timing belt 134. Together with the shift, the spot light source 131 moves, and its arm 139 turns on the detector 138. The spot light source 131 is judged to lie at its initial position (origin), and the motor 135 stops. Thus an original detection means can be eliminated out of the carriage, whereby the moving range of the spot light source can be expanded up to length corresponding to the width of an original platen. |
