PURPOSE:To reduce combustion noise of a diesel engine, by detecting the rate of variation of the combustion pressure per unit time for each cylinder, and delaying the fuel injection timing of the cylinder whose rate of variation of the combustion pressure is greater than a reference value. CONSTITUTION:At a step 20, dp/dt, i.e., the rate of variation of the combustion pressure after injection of fuel per unit time is read. At a step 21, the rate of variation dp/dt read at the step 20 is compared with a reference value P0. Here, if the dp/dt is greater than the reference value, the fuel injection timing for the next injection is delayed by an angle of alpha (for instance, 0.1 deg.) to the datum injection timing, whereby it is enabled to reduce the noise. |
