PURPOSE:To correspond the titled device to fault status quickly and precisely and to secure the safeness of said device by changing the permitted value of the fault in accordance with an objective value without fixing the permitted value. CONSTITUTION:Pressure machines 2a-2n are driven through servo controlling boards 3a-3n by specimen objective displacement signals xa1-xan set up by input operators 6 to control the displacement of a specimen 1 at a prescribed mode. To detect and protect the fault status generated by the excess displacement of the device, a fault discriminator 10 outputs fault processing operation signals ya1-yn1 to a fault processor 12 through an input operator 6 and the fault processor 12 outputs fault processing signals ya2-yn2 to pressure machines 2a- 2n. The fault processing operation signals ya1-yn1 are formed by comparing the permitted value signals outputted by operating 11 forecasting values from the setting values of an object setter 13 and a spaciman characteristic setter with respective detected values from specimen displacing meters 7a-7n and load detectors 8a-8n.
