The machine for dehydrating sludge comprises two endless filter bands (17, 18) which over a part of their length have a common path made up of a number of substantially horizontal superposed pressing regions in which the sludge is compressed between the bands by the action of rollers. In each pressing zone the upper press rollers (29, 31, 33) are gradually closer to the lower rollers (28, 30, 32), the press rollers having a sufficiently small diameter and an arrangement relative to one another such that the pressing forces exerted on the bands do not subject the latter to damaging mechanical stresses at any point of the pressing zones. <IMAGE> |
