<p>Fluoran derivs. I [R=C1˜C4 alkyl; R0=H, C1˜C4 alkyl; R4=-N(R5)(R6); R5=H; R6=ph; Y=OR2; R2=H, C1˜C18 alkyl, benzyl, halo, nitro, C1˜C4 alkyl, benzyl optionally C1˜C4 alkoxy-substituted R3=C1˜C4 alkoxy are prepd. and are used as color formers in thermal and pressure-sensitive systems. Thus, a mixt. of trimellitic angydride and m-(diethylamino) phenol was heated in ethylene dichloride-aq. NH3 to give 4-and 5-carboxy-2-[4-(diethylam- ! ino)-2-hydroxy benzoyl benzoic acid and the product was treated with 2-methyl-N-phenyl-p-phenetidine in oleum to give the corresponding phthalide derivs., and the phthalide rings were closed and the products were treated with Me2So4 to give Ia[R=CH2CH3; R1=CH3; Y=OC2H5 , giving a black shade on acid clay.</p> |
