PURPOSE:To enable the sure fixing of optical fibers by providing a ferrule which is provided with a fitting part to be fitted with a fixing sleeve on the root end side and a strand holding part for holding a strand in an axial direction on the forward end side. CONSTITUTION:A fitting part 21 is made to the inside diameter roughly equal to the outside diameter of a fixing sleeve 10, and is press-fitted with the forward end side of the sleeve 10. A strand holding part 24 is integrally provided on the forward end side of the part 21, and the boundary part thereof is stepped 22. A flange 23 is provided on the root end side of the part 21, and the flange 23 functions as a detaining part in the case of mounting a plug to a housing. A ferrule 20 is formed of metal such as brass into a cylindrical shape which is larger in diameter on the root end side and smaller in diameter on the forward end side. The fitting part 21 to be fitted with the sleeve 10 is provided on the root end side as shown in the figure and the strand holding part 24 for holding the strand 1a in an optical axis direction is provided on the forward end side. |
