PURPOSE:To enable easy mounting of optical fibers, by providing a ferrule which is provided with a fitting part to be fitted with a fixing sleeve on a root end side and is provided with a bundle holding part for holding a fiber bundle in an axial direction on a forward end side. CONSTITUTION:A fixing sleeve 10 is formed of metal into a cylindrical shape, and is provided with a covering fixing part 11 which is inserted with the part of the covering 1b of an optical fiber cable 1 and fixes said part by pressure on the root end side and a bundle fixing part 15 which projects to the forward end of the cable 1, is inserted with the bundle 1a and fixes the bundle fixing part 15 by pressure on the forward end side. A protetive sleeve 16 is made of a material having elasticity, is positioned between the bundle 1a and the part 15 and protects the fine fibers constituting the bundle 1a to avoid their breakage during press-fixing. A ferrule 20 is formed of metal into a cylindrical shape and is provided with a fitting part 21 to be fitted with the sleeve 10 on the root end side and a bundle holding part 24 for holding the bundle 1a in an optical axis direction on the forward end side. |
