PURPOSE:To enable the considerable expansion in the tolerance for the deviation in the optical axis of an optical fiber to be connected, by globing the forward end of the optical fiber to be fixed in a core by heating, and providing a lens on the front face of the spherical part. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber cable 6 is removed of an outside layer 9 and a covering layer 8 over a specified length, and an optical fiber strand 7 is inserted into an optical fiber holding part 4a. The part 8 is inserted into a cavity part 4b and further the outside layer is inserted into a through-hole 10 for the optical fiber cable. The forward end of an optical fiber 7 is melted by heating to a spherical shape and the spherical part 7z is engaged with the front end edge of the holding part 4a, by which said part is positioned. A resin adhesive agent 11 is put into the cavity part 4b in this state, by which the fiber 7 is fixed to a core 3. A lens 12 is incorporated concentrically to the open end face 5 of the core 3. |
