PURPOSE:To obtain a printing character pitch controller having a simple construction and a large memory capacity, by reading a character pitch from a controlling data memory as a character code and an address. CONSTITUTION:The character code of printing data received through an input- output device is stored into a page buffer memory 20 by a microporcessor 17. The content thus stored is written into a pattern memory 12 through line buffers 14a, 14b capable of alternately changing over between writing and reading for each line. Simultaenously, controlling data memory provided in a printing controlling circuit 11 is accessed by a character code fed from the buffers 14a, 14b. In accordance with pitch information read out in accordance with the character code, contents of the memory 12 are read through the circuit 11, and a video signal (a) for printing is outputted through a perpendicular coverting circuit 13. Accordingly, a printing character pitch controller having a simple construction and a large capacity of memory for storing only the pitch information corresponding to the character code is provided. |
