An insulating sheath for a horizontal pipe in a furnace installation includes "lower portion" 13, 14 made of moulded ceramic fibre material and adapted to extend around the lower part of the pipe and an upper portion 4, 5 made of a highly stable ceramic material and adapted to extend around the upper part of the pipe.
