PURPOSE:To make the timing for immersion of water in a steel pipe and injection of water adequate and to prevent water hammer phenomena or the like by providing a partition plate to a titled device which has a water injection nozzle and turns integrally with a tilting device for turning a holding device of steel pipe in a water tank. CONSTITUTION:A partition plate 31 which is adequately set is provided on the water surface 18 of a water tank 11 between a steel pipe 1 held in a holder and a water injection nozzle 30. The pipe 1 carried rollably into the tank on charging skids 4 is held between revolving and driving rolls 9, and press rolls 8 sandwich the pipe 1. The pipe 1 is turned around a revolving axis 6 while it is rotated and is immersed into the water in the tank. The nozzle 30 keeps injecting continuously the cooling water from the time when it is in the air. When the nozzle turns to the position of the plate 31, the water injected therefrom is shielded by the plate 3 and is prevented from entering the inside of the pipe 1. The cooling water is injected into the pipe 1 at the same instant when the nozzle 30 passes by the bottom end 31a of the plat 31, whereby the cooling water can be injected into the pipe 1 synchronously with the immersion of the pipe in the water. |
