PURPOSE:To manufacture a thick steel material of which the cross-sectional shape of side end is squared, by providing an on-line grinding device of a material to be rolled, used for removing a dog bone generated at the time of edging, to the outlet side of vertical rolls, in an edging equipment of a thick steel plate having a vertical rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:In an edging equipment having a vertical rolling mill 18 equipped with vertical rolls 16, which are used for rolling down a thick steel plate to be rolled in he width direction before finishing the rolling; an on-line grinding device 20 of a material to be rolled, which is used for removing a dog bone 14a generated at the time of edging by grinding the upper and lower surfaces of the plate 14 at the outlet side of vertical rolls 16, is provided to the rear side of the mill 18. The dog bone 14a, generated at the time of edging the plate 14, is ground and removed by the operations of whetstones 22 of a grinder and pinch rolls 26 of the device 20. Thus, a thick steel plate having a rectangular cross section is manufactured without removing a dog bone at an off-line stage. |
