PURPOSE:To prepare a large-sized single crystal of InBO3, in a short time, by adding InBO3 to a solvent obtained by mixing B2O3, PbO and BaCO3 in an amount above the saturation level, heating and melting the mixture, and slowly cooling the molten mixture. CONSTITUTION:The molten mixture of B2O3, PbO, BaCO3 and In2O3 having a specific composition is filled as a starting raw material 1 in a lidded platinum crucible 2. The crucible 2 is put into the lidded porcelain crucibles 3, 4, sealed double in a refractory box 5, and put into an electrical furnace 6. The mixture is molten by heating with the heater 7 at about 1,300 deg.C, and cooled slowly. The InBO3 existing in the mixture at a concentration above the saturation concentration is separated from the solvent and grown in the form of single crystal. |
