1317626 Surgical dressings V J LOMBARDI 1 Dec 1970 57094/70 Heading A5R [Also in Division D1] A float, or loop pile fabric, particularly a tubular knitted fabric, for use as a surgical dressing includes pile yarn, e.g. loops 14 having a non-sticking characteristic. The pile, which spaces the ground structure from the wound will thus not adhere to it. A second shorterpile material 16 having absorbent or wicking properties may also be included. The non- sticking material 14 comprises yarn or film ribbon of a polyfluorinated polyolefine; the shorter loops 16 may comprise cotton, rayon, PVC or nylon. The multi-level pile may be obtained by forming even height loops of two materials, shearing the pile and applying heat to shrink one material. The dressing may be of stretch fabric. A tubular dressing 24, Fig. 6, may include the characteristic pile 30 in one area only, and elasticated bands 28 at both ends. |
