This device generating high voltage for electrostatic spraying appliance comprises a low-voltage DC supply 1 which has a current-voltage characteristic such that at least the DC voltage produced by the said low-voltage supply drops noticeably when the intensity of the current reaches a predetermined value, a generator of high DC voltage 4, a switch 7 which is mounted in parallel with the output of the low-voltage supply 1 and is normally closed when quiescent so as to short-circuit the output of the said low-voltage supply when the switch is not actuated by the control device 8 of the appliance 5, and a circuit-cutting device 9 which is mounted in series within the link 2, 3 between the low-voltage supply 1 and the high-voltage generator 4, between the output of the said low-voltage supply and the said switch 7. <IMAGE>
