In a belt type spreader which can move on running gear assemblies and has a superstructure which is pivotable about a horizontal axis (7) and comprises a stacker boom (5) and, if necessary, a counter-weight boom (6), and an intermediate conveyor (13), the intermediate conveyor is connected by its transfer end (12) to a traverse (10) in the region above the unit for transferring the bulk material from the intermediate conveyor (13) to the stacker boom (5) by means of a bearing (11) which can be pivoted in all directions, which traverse is mounted in the superstructure (5, 6) so as to be pivotable about a horizontal axis (9) and is pivotable about the said horizontal axis (9) by means of an actuating device (23). When the superstructure (5, 6) is pivoted, simultaneous pivoting of the traverse (10) means that horizontal displacement of the intermediate conveyor in relation to the substructure (2) can be avoided. In order to eliminate vertical displacement as well, it is proposed to displaceably mount the bearing (11) which can be pivoted in all directions in a guideway curved round the horizontal pivoting axis (7) of the superstructure (5, 6). <IMAGE>
