PURPOSE:To synthesize efficiently character information and image information, by converting code information of a screen buffer into image information, and supplying the image information and other image information transmitted from an electronic computer to an image buffer to a send buffer. CONSTITUTION:A screen buffer 6 stores the code information such as a character and a symbol inputted from an electronic computer 1 and converts the code information into the image information and transmits the result to the line. On the other hand, the image information from the computer 1 or the peripheral device or transferred from a terminal device 7 via a line to a communication controller 2 is stored in an image buffer 10. The image information converted with the code information of the buffer 6 and the image information of the buffer 10 are synthesized at a send buffer 9 and transmitted to the line.
