Shift device for the reverse gear in a toothed change transmission of a motor vehicle

The selection of the reverse gear in a toothed change transmission takes place in two successive phases. In the first phase, a synchronising tooth engagement is made between a shift wheel of the reverse gear, the said shift wheel being rotatable free of load, and a rotationally fixed gearwheel on the output shaft. In the second phase, the shift wheel is connected to the rotationally fixed gearwheel via a coupling device in a torque-transmitting manner.
