PURPOSE:To reduce the longitudinal width of a movable case portion to provide a compact axle housing by providing a large bevel gear for speed reduction on a front wheel axle to bestride in a fixed case portion and a movable case portion. CONSTITUTION:An axle housing is constituted of a fixed case portion 10 fixed to an end of axle case 9 and a movable case portion 11 supported movably by this fixed case portion 10. A bevel gear 20 is attached to a transmission shaft 19 in the fixed case portion 10, and a large bevel gear 21 for speed reduction is attached to a front wheel axle 4a supported by the movable case portion 11. Bevel gears 22, 23 for affording power transmission between both bevel gears 20, 21 are provided to rotate integrally with each other on a king pin 12. And these bevel gears 22, 23 are disposed within the fixed case portion 10. Thus, said large begel gear 21 meshing with the bevel gear 23 for speed reduction has its upper portion located in the fixed case portion 10 and its lower portion disposed in the movable case portion 11. |
