Rapid and accurate whole blood analysis measurements are made with an analysis system of the potentiometric type that employs a restricted diffusion type liquid junction (80) where the whole blood sample is flowed past a sensing electrode and liquid junction at a velocity of at least one centimeter per second during a data aquisition interval that is at least twenty-five milliseconds in duration.
