PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a buffer spring due to a centrifugal force, reduce an impact force upon the collision of a pinion gear and a ring gear, and elongate the life of the ring gear by a method wherein the buffee spring is provided in an inner member. CONSTITUTION:When a starter is put ON, a plunger 31 is attracted and a clutch 5 is pushed to the side of the ring gear 24 forcibly. The pinion gear member 14 is also pushed by the inner member 11 to the side of the gear 24 and the edge faces of each teeth of the ring gear 24 and the gear 16 are colliding with each other. Here, the impact force is generated in the pinion 14, however, the clutch 5 deflects the buffer spring 17 and reduces the speed thereby moving a shaft 3 and the pinion 24. Subsequently, a starter motor is put ON, the rotation thereof is transmitted to the pinion 14 through a helical spring, the colliding condition of each teeth is released, the pinion 14 is meshed with the ring gear 24 and the engine is revolved. Accordingly, the breakage of the buffer spring due to the centrifugal force and the collision of the pinion against the ring gear may be prevented. |
