PURPOSE:To prevent the surface roughening and cracking on side faces to be generated in the stage of rolling a broad material and to improve the yield of a rolled material by subjecting the material continuously to flat rolling while reducing the transverse width by means of drawing dies. CONSTITUTION:A rolled material 1 is reduced adequately in the transverse width by drawing with a die 5, whereafter the material is inserted between horizontal rolling rolls 2, 2' and is subjected to broad flat rolling. The material is similarly subjected to drawing with a die 6 and flat press rolling with horizontal rolling rolls 3, 3' in succession and is further subjected successively to drawing with a die 7 and flat rolling with horizontal rolling rolls 4, 4', whereby the broad material having a prescribed width is obtd. The free spreading in the transverse direction of the rolled material by the rolling is suppressed by the drawing with the dies prior to the rolling and the surface roughening and cracking of the side faces of the rolled material are thoroughly prevented in accordance with the above-mentioned rolling method. |
