As shown, a common pattern store 10 containing a plurality of pattern programmes, is connected through a stage 11 with stores 12 for multi-system circular knitting machines 15. Each store 12 has 36 outputs allotted to the separate knitting systems of the machine by which it controls through a shift register 13 and an amplifier 14, the 'knit' or 'not-knit' operations of the individual needle selectors of a system. The central store 10 is a disc, tape or drum store having a short access time which holds pattern programmes fed in from a tape, not shown, via the connection stage 11 or manually set in from a keyboard 18. Stored information can be displayed on a device 19 and up-dated or corrected by the keyboard 18. Facilities are provided in the stores 12 for mirror imaging and pattern repeat. |
