PURPOSE:To recover waste gas contg. gaseous CO generated in a refining stage with high purity without diluting the same with air by suspending a hollow lance covered with refractories and perimitting cooling above the melt in a converter in the stage of refining for steel making by the converter. CONSTITUTION:Waste gas contg. CO is generated in the stage of refining steel by oxidation refining consisting essentially of decarburization in an oxygen top- blown converter, an oxygen bottom-blown converter or a top/bottom blown converter. Said gas is recovered and CO is effectively utilized. An extraction pipe 9 consisting of a hollow lance which is covered with refractories and permits cooling is suspended from the port, side wall or tap hole of the converter in such a way that the opening thereof is positioned above the molten steel 4 or molten slag 5 to absorb and extract the CO-contg. gas generated from the steel 4. Since the mixing of the outside air into the gas is obviated, the waste gas contg. CO. CO is recovered with less decrease of CO without diluted by N2 derived from air nor CO2 resulted by the combustion of CO by O2. |
