PROCEDE POUR LE TRAITEMENT DU COKE PARTIELLEMENT DESULFURE

The particle strength of partially desulphurised coke with an S content of 2 wt.% or less is increased by an after- treatment (following desulphurisation) comprising heating the coke at 1300-1600 deg.C for at least 30 min. The process is esp. applicable to petroleum cokes intended for mfr. of carbon anodes for use in the fused-salt electrolytic prodn. of Al. Particle strengths of at least 70% can be achieved.
