Method of controlling a technological process by among other things measuring the control capacity of a control unit 4 and altering a parameter thereof, so that the limit value of the control capacity is achieved, corresponding to the best control process. If the deviation between the control capacity and the stored limit value exceeds a predetermined value and the parameter of the control unit 4 changes in a direction toward reduced stability margin for the control system, while the control capability changes in a direction corresponding to improved control, when the parameter of the control unit attains a predetermined value this parameter is suddenly changed to a value corresponding to an unstable condition of the control system and then to a value corresponding to a stable condition of the system, after which the parameter is gradually changed in the direction of reduced stability margin for the system, until this parameter again attains the predetermined value or until the direction of the change in the control capability reverses. An automatic control arrangement contains a control unit 4, a controlled memory 8, connected to the output of an arrangement 6 for generating a signal characteristic of the control capability, an arrangement 12 connected to a stage 10 which responds to changes in the direction of change in the parameter of the control unit and adjusts this parameter. The control arrangement furthermore comprises a stage 11 for changing the mode of operation of the parameter-setting arrangement 12 in event of large deviation between the current value of the control capability and its limit or end value as stored in the memory 8. <IMAGE> |
