PURPOSE:To prevent the scattering of ink from printing head caused by the leakage of the ink after the ink is filled, in the on-demand type titled apparatus, by cutting off the power of a pump for filling the printing head with the ink during the pressurizing process thereof. CONSTITUTION:In cleaning a head 1 to fill the same with ink, a carriage 2 is at first moved to the position of a stopper 8 and, at this position, a cleaner 9 is operated to clean the nozzle surface of the head 1. In the next step, the stopper 8 is escaped and the carriage 2 is further moved left to be brought into contact with a frame 11 while a suction cap 10 is engaged with the nozzle surface in an airtight state and a motor not shown in the drawing is driven to fill the ink through a pump. In this case, the motor is constituted so as to be stopped when the pump is in a pressurizing process and, even if the suction cap 10 is released after the ink is filled, the leakage and the scattering of the ink from the head 1 are prevented. |
