PURPOSE:To always surely prevent sheets of paper from being sent while being overlapped, by making variable the torque of a slip clutch for transmitting motive power to paper return rollers facing paper separation rollers and by changing the torque to be high for a prescribed time if the overlapped sending of the sheets of paper is detected. CONSTITUTION:A paper feeder comprises a paper feed unit 100 including paper feed rollers 101 and separation rollers 102, and a blocking unit 200 made of return rollers 201, which are turned in the opposite direction to the separation rollers. The return rollers 201 are supported by a frame 204 swingable about a support shaft 206, which is rotated through a sprocket 220 and a slip clutch 221. The torque of the clutch 221 can be changed. When the sending of overlapped sheets of paper 11 is detected by an overlapped sending sensor 105, the torque of the clutch 221 is made high and kept high for a prescribed time and thereafter made low. |
