PURPOSE:To grind lumber effectively, by mounting rough grinding belts running in a direction meeting either at right angles or slantwise with a feeding direction of a work and finish grinding belts running in an identical direction with the rough grinding belts in succession to them are mounted symmetrically respectively, in simultaneous grinding for both symmetrical side faces of the lumber. CONSTITUTION:A board material (a) to be ground is loaded on caterpillars 16a and 16b by positioning it with a guide component 70, which is made to advance by a clasp 17 and is transfered to a place between rough grinding heads 50a and 50b while pressing it by holding belts 36a and 36b. Rough grinding belts 55a and 55b are made to run and rotate in a vertical direction to a feeding direction of a work, and both side faces of the board material (a) is ground heavily and transfered to the next finish grinding heads 60a and 60b by the heads 50a and 50b. Finish of te surface ground roughly is done here by finish grinding belts 68a and 68b running and rotating in an identical direction with a feeding direction of the work. Thus, as a whole area of the rough grinding belts are used, their life can be lengthened and grinding operation can be made effective as the rough grinding and finish grinding can be done simultaneously. |
