PURPOSE:To provide a rolling mill capable of increasing its rolling reduction for one pass even the diameters of work rolls are reduced, by arranging respective motors for driving upper and lower work rolls on both sides of a rolling stand. CONSTITUTION:Universal couplings 15, 22 are respectively fitted to the axle ends of upper and lower work rolls 3, 4, and couplings 15, 24 are fitted to motors 18, 25 respectively. Spindles 16, 23 are respectively fitted between the couplings 15, 17 and between the couplings 22, 25, and the upper and lower motors 18, 25 are arranged on both sides of a rolling stand so as to sandwich it between the motors. Thus the upward and downward forces of the reaction of rolling load are offset with each other in a housing. Further, the upper motor 18 is mounted on a bed 19 so that the upper and lower work rolls 3, 4 and a lower backup roll 8 can be carried under the upper motor 18, thereby the rearrangement of rolls is performed without causing any trouble in rolling operation. |
