Interface coupler between a calculating unit and a process controller comprising a plurality of control axes defined by n bit data. The pairs of incremental signals of relative angular position derived from the set of coders are multiplexed and sampled ME. A circuit DIS compares the logic states of the said pairs in order to extract therefrom a data item relating to the sense of rotation. A memory MSR, organised into basic words of p bits, p being a sub-multiple of n, receives the n-bit data item of absolute angular position, and these basic words are successively read and processed by an arithmetic operator OPA which increments them or decrements them as a function of the sense of rotation. <IMAGE>
