PURPOSE:To increase the temperature control width of a heating process and to perform smoothing by lowering the temperature necessary for smoothing, by passing a magnetic recording medium between rolls after it passes through a high frequency induction heating device. CONSTITUTION:High frequency oscillation electrodes 4 are arranged over and under the path of the flexible magnetic recording medium 1, and a high frequency wave is applied thereto by a high frequency oscillation device 5 to heat and soften the biner of the medium 1; and the medium 1 is passed between a couple of the metallic rolls 2 whose surfaces are worked specularly. The surface temperature of the rolls 2 is controlled appropriately by a temperature regulator 6. Thus, heating and pressure application are performed under separated processes, so the pressure application between the rolls is reduced to reduce the number of stages of the rolls, so that the prolongation of the life of the rolls and operation are facilitated. Further, the heating is uniform and controlled to optional temperature because of the heating is executed at the molecular level of the binder, or the heating is performed selectively. |
