PURPOSE:To compensate the length of an IBG and prevent such a state that written data can not be read, by delaying the starting point of data writing later than normal state when detecting a magnetic tape slipping on a magnetic tape driving wheel by more than a permissible value. CONSTITUTION:Data is written on the magnetic tape through a data control part 5 and a writing head 3 by a starting signal from a writing point determining circuit 9 after a capstan 2 attains a specific speed. The time up to when the data is read by a reading head 4 is measured by a timer counter 8. A slip error detecting circuit 7 when the value of the counter 8 is greater than a prescribed time delays the writing starting signal a specific time later than normal state through a slip display register 10 and the circuit 9 to write the next data block, and thus the length of the IBG is compensated to prevent the state wherein the written data can not be read. |
