PURPOSE:To moderate the rapid motion of a valve when it is opened or closed by forming an oil sump on the receiving part of a push rod. CONSTITUTION:A push rod receiving part 3 is inserted in a valve arm 2 as slidable in the vertical direction and an oil sump 6 is formed on the push rod receiving part 3, with a spring 7 therein pushing the push rod receiving part 3 downward. The oil sump 6 is communicated through a lubricating oil passage 10 with a lubricating oil supply passage 9 which is formed inside a valve arm rod 8. The rapid motion of the valve when it is opened or closed may be moderated by the damping effect of the lubricating oil in the oil sump 6, and a valve clearance need not be adjusted any more. |
