PURPOSE:To make it possible to discriminate abnormalities in a cylinder discrimination sensor, by instituting a quantitative comparison between a cylinder discrimination signal and a crank angle signal, in case of a method of fuel injection at individual cylinders. CONSTITUTION:Abnormalities in a cylinder discrimination sensor are detected at steps 2, 3, 4 and 5. That is, frequencies in the occurrence of both crank angle signals TDC and cylinder discrimination signals CYL are compared. When something is wrong with the cylinder discrimination sensor, compensation operations in time of trouble happening take place at a step 6. It means that injection is performed by the TDC signal in disregard of the CYL signal. With this, not only abnormalities in the cylinder discrimination sensor are detected but also its trouble compensation is thus achievable. |
