Mushroom-growing compost - from bark of resinous trees composted town refuse and ammonia/urea as a source of nitrogen

Compost for growing mushrooms comprises a fermentation product of a mixture of bark from resinous trees and an equal volume of composted town refuse to which is added, before fermentation, 1% w/w (dry matter) of a source of N comprising 80% of a soln. of NH3, the remainder being urea. Pine bark is prepd. and it should be as free as possible from wood chips. The bark and the household compost are broken down to a particle size of 10 to 30mm. before mixing with the source of N and opt. a source of phosphate. Composting in lots of is not 25m3 progresses for 7 to 8 and certainly is not >15 days.
